Stress can have a huge effect on our bodies

Stress can change your metabolism which leads to increased disease risk in your body.  When our bodies are stressed it produces cortisol from the adrenal glands.

Here’s what can happen:

If cortisol remains elevated for long periods of time there is:

  • Increase in fat storage
  • Increased cholesterol levels
  • Increased blood sugars
  • Decreased immune system

 

Dealing with and managing stress:

  • Balance your diet and never skip meals
  • Moderate caffeine and alcohol
  • Take regular exercise
  • Get 7 – 8 hours sleep per night
  • Allow breaks for head space
  • Consider meditation like yoga
